The Wolfgang Classical Wind Ensemble was organized in the summer of 2006 for the advanced students of Mr. Noon. The ensemble now continues for the enjoyment and challenge of rehearsing and performing in a group of equally talented adults and advanced students.

Area adult and youth instrumentalists looking for an opportunity to play challenging classical music are invited to participate in this organization. Adult players are expected to have a minimum of 6 years playing experience, and youth players are required to audition. As a wind ensemble, membership acceptance is contingent upon instrumentation needs determined by the conductor.

The Spring Season began Friday, January 16, 2009 and continues with rehearsals every Friday. The season will conclude with concerts May 12th &17th.

All rehearsals are held from 5:30 to 8:00 p.m. in the Sanctuary of Old North United Methodist Church, 4201 Stringtown Road, Evansville, Indiana.

In addition to his/her instrument, each person will need to provide their own music stand and basic black concert attire.

As your conductor, it is my hope to bring to you the finest and most challenging music from the master composers. I believe and expect that every member can, and will, rise to the level of performance of which we all may be proud. The Conductor's mission is to constantly advance the individual player's skills and the ensemble's performance capability. I will challenge you to be a professional player, regardless of your age. There are great composers that need to be heard through their music, and heard most intimately in the PLAYING of their music. We will sit side by side with W. A. Mozart, Mendelssohn, Massenet, C. M. von Weber, P. I. Tchaikowsky; as well as 20th master composer, John Williams.  We will get to know them well.

Musically,

Dennis A. Noon

Wolfgang is a self-supporting ensemble with seasonal dues. The dues for the Spring 2009 Season are $50 per person. Dues are to cover expenses for music, programs, pictures, and other incidental expenses of the group. If you wish to do installments, you may pay monthly.

Dues also express a commitment on the part of the musicians to rehearse regularly and to perform, missing no more than two rehearsals per season.

Selected music for the 2009 Spring Season may include, among others: "Finale to the 4th Symphony" by Tchaikovsky, "Fingal's Cave" by Mendelssohn, "Raider's of the Lost Ark
" by John Williams, "Romanza" tuba solo from Mozart's 'Horn Concerto #3,' "Die Meistersinger" exerpts from the opera by Wagner, "Andante & Hungarian Rondo" bassoon solo by C.M. von Weber, "Meditation from Thais" by Massenet featuring the flute section and "Glenn Miller In Concert."
