Wolfgang Expectations of Members

Wolfgang Orchestra and Chorus is self-supporting with seasonal dues of $50.00 per season. Dues cover expenses for rental of the rehearsal hall, insurance, music, equipment, programs, pictures, concert CDs, postage and other incidental expenses of the group. Scholarships are available for college students.

Dues are an expression of commitment on the part of the musicians to rehearse regularly, missing no more than two rehearsals per season. Dress rehearsal and concerts are required for participation in Wolfgang.

Instrumentalists must provide their own music stands. All musicians must provide their own basic black concert attire.

Orchestral music this season will include Barber’s Adagio for Strings, Rossini’s William Tell Overture, Prokofiev’s March, Op. 99, Morton Gould’s American Salute, Haydn’s Cello Concerto No. 1, R. Rodgers Victory at Sea, Schonberg’s Les Misérables Selections, Leigh’s The Impossible Dream from “Man of La Mancha,” Weber’s Memory from “Cats,” and Fillmore’s Lassus Trombone.

Choral selections will include a cappella music; I Dreamed a Dream from “Les Misérables,” Duke Ellington’s Satin Doll, Solitude, & It Don’t Mean a Thing, the Spiritual Never Gonna Walk This Journey Alone, Zaumeyer‘s Alleluia, D. Wood‘s Slow Me Down, & W. Hatch’s Song of Praise. The Orchestra and Chorus will join for John Rutter’s Distant Land.

From the Director

Maestro Noon

“As your conductor, it is my hope to bring to you the finest and most challenging music from the master composers. I believe and expect that every member can, and will, rise to the level of performance of which we all may be proud. The Conductor’s mission is to constantly advance the individual player’s skills and the ensemble’s performance capability. I will challenge you to be a professional player, regardless of your age. There are great composers that need to be heard through their music, and heard most intimately in the PLAYING of their music. We will sit side by side with S. Barber, G. Rossini, S. Prokofiev, M. Gould, F. J. Haydn, H. Fillmore, R. Rodgers and J. Rutter. We will get to know them well.”

Musically,

Dennis A. Noon
