Dennis A. Noon, Band Director, Composer, and Clarinetist, earned Bachelor and Master of Music Education degrees from
Austin Peay State University in Clarksville, Tennessee. At Austin Peay he studied clarinet, conducting, instrumental arranging
and orchestration with Dr. Aaron Schmidt. As a Band Director for thirty-three years, he taught in Tennessee, Rhode Island,
Kentucky, and Indiana. Upon retirement from teaching in January 2000, Mr. Noon returned to Mt. Vernon, Indiana with his wife,
Nancy where they have a music studio in their home and where they continue to compose, print, perform, and record music.
Dennis also devotes his time and experience as Director of the "Wolfgang Classical Wind Ensemble & Singers," a group
of approximately 50 musicians. More about this group is on this site's web page simply called "Wolfgang."
Composer,
Pianist, and Organist, Nancy Noon, obtained her higher education at Minot State College in Minot, North Dakota in Music Education
with dual concentrations in piano and voice. Piano and voice students throughout the United States have studied with Mrs.
Noon in her private music studio. Although no longer actively teaching full time (there are still a select few), Nancy continues
the Christian ministry that began at the tender age of 12 when she first began playing for church services in Capitan, New
Mexico. Today, in addition to composing music with her husband, Mrs. Noon is Vocal Director and Keyboardist for "Wolfgang
Classical Wind Ensemble & Singers."
Mr. and Mrs. Noon's "An American Requiem for the Common Man", which they composed
together over a period of 18 months, was premiered by the St. Paul's Episcopal Church Choir in Evansville, Indiana on Palm
Sunday, March 24, 2002. Their "Ave Verum" and "Deep River" were performed Spring 2006 by the Evansville Philharmonic Chorus.
It was the premiere for "Deep River". "Poor Wayfarin' Stranger" was premiered by the Old North United Methodist Church Chancel
Choir in Evansville on June 3. 2007. "Poor Wayfarin' Stranger," which was dedicated to Maestro Joseph Choi and the Evansville
Philharmonic Chorus, was then performed on the Evansville Philharmonic Chorus' Spring Concert May 17, 2008. The Noons'
also perform together as a classical duo on clarinet and piano in miscellaneous area venues.
